The Bottom Line:
Will research my next TV purchase and doubt it will ever be another Sony.
We purchased this TV new 18 months ago. The "D board" has gone out and a new part is over $700.00 not including labor. The labor will be almost $200.00. Then there is a service call charge of $96.00. The Sony people wanted me to take the set to a certified Sony repair shop to be fixed. This repair shop was 75 miles away and in another state. Do these people not realize how big a 53" projection TV is? It would have required renting a truck to haul it in. Finally, we called the store where we purchased the set and found out they will service and repair in the home. Wonder why Sony wouldn't share that information with us. Will have the set repaired this time but doubt we will spend any more money on it. If it breaks again we will cut our losses and get another set. You can pretty much bet it won't be a Sony.
