Pros Clear picture, many features, attractive
Cons Expensive
Recommended it? Yes

Only one other time did we have a ?big screen? television, and it had been left in a house that we purchased. It was an older model, had a poor picture, and when we sold the house we left it for the new owners. When shopping for a new home, I became rather fascinated with the huge television we saw... Pros HD-ready, widescreen, clear menus.
Cons Somewhat pricey, DRC mode, short warranty.

Nobody will ever accuse Sony of a lack of versatility. The Japan-based consumer electronics manufacturer puts out everything from telephone answering machines to digital memo recording machines, including camcorders, audio/video receivers, digital cameras, big-screen TV's,... Read full review »

A Disappointment

Pros Good picture while it worked, good 4:3 to 16:9 adaptation.
Cons A premium priced product with an under 4 year life span
Recommended it? No

While the set performed well, after 40 months of ownership my set has been diagnosed with a failing blue tube. For my 11/02 production set, blue tubes are no longer available from Sony, so my set which I paid $2,500+ for, is essentially worthless. Had they been available my service man predicted it... Pros Awesome theater quality picture. Great sound even without a surround sound system.
Cons On the zoom screen selection, heads and words are cut off.
Recommended it? Yes

Ok, So my husband wanted a big screen. We actually started out looking for another 32-35" to replace our old RCA. We went to Circuit City, did some browsing, and there it was............. in all its big screen glory! THE SONY KP-51HW40. I could almost hear Tim Allen doing his infamous grunt. Only... Pros Fairly good picture when new.
Cons Cheaply made and cheap parts
Recommended it? No

This TV is a rip-off. The blue lamp went out after 4 years, which I understand is the life of these lamps. It started getting half-circle blue lines after only six months. Then one day it just went totally blue but you could hear the sound. The cost to repair and replace this lamp is around... Read full review »

Don't Buy This T.V.!!

Pros When it worked it was a great picture, ecspecially the high definition picture.
Cons A TV that cost this much should last for 14 years, not 4!
Recommended it? No

Unless you want to pay $2500 for a TV that lasts 4 years max and then will cost you $1500 to repair IF they can find the parts and IF they do they'll only last about a year and you'll need to shell out another $1500. As the "Authorized Sony Repairman" said, "These are throw away TV's. We do not... Read full review »

Pros High picture quality, many features, lots of inputs
Cons No way to put anything on top of the set
Recommended it? Yes

I have had the Sony KP-57WH40 for three days now, and have watched 10 DVD's on it, and several hours of cable TV.

This TV has great image quality - but has not been pushed yet for several reasons.

1. Set has not been calibrated. The set has to be "burned in" for about a month... Read full review »

Pros Outstanding picture quality.
Cons TV Power on light does not stay lit.
Recommended it? Yes

This is the set I chose over Toshiba, Panasonic, and Pioneer. The single most important factor was the color fidelity and clarity of the image. I primarily watch DVD's and coupled with the Pioneer Elite 37 the picture is staggering in its ability to deliver an almost HDTV like image. Toy Story and... Read full review »
