KP-61XBR300 rules

Pros Great picture! Picture size
Cons Price and overall size of the TV
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you can fit it into your living room, buy it.
I have had my KP-61XBR300 for about two years now. I have found only two things to dislike about my KP-61XBR300. It was too big to get into the living room of my apartment. I hired a crane to lift it up to the balcony. I hired the same crane again when it was time to move. This TV does NOT go around corners in hallways in small apartments. The second problem I found is possibly specific to my TV. When I turn in on, occasionally the video does not come on. A simple cycle off then on again, and the video appears. I have not tried to have the problem corrected.

There are many features I love on this TV. First, there are many IO jacks on the back. I think you can theoretically connect 6 different inputs to the TV! VCR, DVD, Tivo, HDTV satellite, normal cable and more......

Second, the picture is Awesome. I looked at many TVs before choosing this one, based on the picture quality. There are no visible lines around the pixels even when viewing low-res sources like VHS tape. There is no "jagged edge" on curves images. Very few TVs have pictures that can compare to this Sony. I will get HDTV soon (Jan 2002) and let you know how it goes.

Third, the picture is BIG. It is 4x3 format, or pretty close to square. I also have a Mitsubishi 50 inch which is more rectangular in 16x9 format. The Letterbox image on the Sony is still larger than the same image full screen on the Mitsubishi!

The set comes with wheels mounted on the bottom for easy positioning. As with all projection TVs, it is a bit darker when looking at the screen from the side. For the best brightness, your eyes should be as perpendicular to the screen.

Aside from the logistical hassle of having such a big TV, it has been great.
