Sony's XBR delivers
Pros
Incredibly crisp picture. Sony has made rear projection look as bright as a tube.
Cons
Huge.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
The overall package integrates a strong sound processor, nice size and a very high quality CRT. I like the fact that I continue to find new features.
When I first saw this television I was impressed with the size, then I hit the power button and saw the picture quality on broadcast television. I was surprised because I always thought that you had to sacrifice screen quality for screen size . . . apparently not with the XBR series?
We switched to a DVD player and the picture got crisper. Later when I added a progressive scan DVD player, I again recognized a substantial gain in picture quality. This television seems to be ready for new technology, including HDTV, since it is rated for 1080i output.
Inputs on the front and rear make it easy to use and to setup digital cameras.
Seems to have a wider viewing angle than most rear projection units.
