The Bottom Line:
If you want a BIG picture then get this set. If your waiting because of any reason DON'T. If you can find one of these sets buy it!
An excellent value. The Sony gives a huge picture 65" and won't cost nearly as much as plasma. I've had the set since it first became available in Aug. 02'. I have a very regular DVD player connected to a HT receiver and then to the TV with 12' of Monster S cable. Picture is awesome !. Have not calibrated the set yet. Have not used the DVI or component inputs yet. All view time is with DVD's or Directv Satellite. Very happy with this unit. Ambient room lighting control is a must for serious movie watching. I've kept all video controls below 1/4. Protective screen does reflect images quite easily in sunlit rooms but picture is still clear. I plan to connect the new Sony SAT-HD200 using the DVI and get some high def images soon. I can say I am disappointed in the video performance with regular satellite. The effects of combing, single field interpolation, moire' and chroma upsampling have been noticed from time to time. Example: Pro football game, a close up on the feild of teams at line of scrimage is increadibly clear! However a pan back showing the fan's in the stands at the same time as the players on the feild or an overhead from the blimp and the image is a blur:( I've thought about getting an iscan pro to maybe clean it up. Switching between the settings for "progressive" "cinemotion" and "interlaced" offer very suttle differences using the video 1 S input. I waited forever to jump into the big screen world and I'm very glad I finally did. Yeah its not perfect but I'll never watch 32" tv again!.
