The Bottom Line:
This unit will not meet the needs of anyone with a Home Theater. It will work great as a second TV.
You have been warned. While this TV looks great on the shelf it comes up a bit short. I made the mistake of picking this TV up recently without doing all of the research I should have. The Sales Associate at the local store was really friendly and said that the TV had everything I needed. However, for the price the TV just doesn't make the cut.
The TV has a great picture and I will not fault Sony there. However, when you start talking about inputs and outputs you discover just how horribly wrong you went. This TV has dual-coaxial in; one for analog and another for digital. Great...no big deal...I can pick and choose as needed. However; with only 1 rear video input for S-Video and one for Composite, you better not have too many video devices. As for outputs for that $1000 Home Theater...forget it...not included. While everything on the box and in the manual says that this device is Dolby Digital Certified, it has no audio out. So that wonderful 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound that you are being delivered is being processed, just not used.
Since my only use for a TV this size would be for a home theater this thing is going back. I can save $200 and buy the next model down and have 3 component inputs and 2 composite with Digital Out. Why would I keep this paperweight? Better luck next time around Sony.
