Cons
Heavy, missing a lot of features.

Yes
The Bottom Line:
Only Cost and flat screen, plus it is easy to set up
Why I bought new TV
When flat comes to mind, I will think of its light and skinny like your tires are flat. But this model gives me total different prospective of what "flat" means.
Before I go any further on the detail on this TV, I would like to explain why I bought this TV in the first place.
As you know, we are in the 21 century. We can't catch up with technology that fast. Of course you can if you have enough money. To me, TV is just a media device.
However, the more we we look, we more we will see the choices we can pick from. My 11 years old 27" Toshiba Tube TV finally finally came to its end. W First the remote broke about a year ago. Then we saw some lines on top of the screen constantly when viewing TV. Then, we had the habit of using the old method, go to tv and turn it on and use the VCR as a means of changing channel (for volume, we had to go to the TV). Enough said about my old TV. Anyway, that's the reason we bought this TV.
Different Type of TVs
There are many types of TV, Tube, combos, flat screen, projection, lcd panel, HDTV, PLASMA. Since we don't have the budget of a rich man, we can't afford PLASMA, HDTV, projection, lcd panel tv, the only choices left were Tube, combos, flat panel. Combos are just the ones with DVD or VHS. We had both, so that's out of selection. Tube TVs are for the starters. Therefore, we decided to upgrade to a flat screen TV. It's better for the eyes as they say.
Of course, all the new tvs like HDTV, PLASMA TVs are also good for the eyes. However, with the budget we have, flat screen TV is the choice.
Features
Heavy
This TV comes with a remote (and yes 2 AA batteries for the remote) and a big 32 inches TV. There are two internal speakers in the sides, but you hook up your external speakers too. Fortunately, my wall unit was just right for it. However, this guy is very heavy. I and my wife had to use the coffee table with wheels to push it to the wall unit area. After we move it, the immediate thought of my mind is flat panel or lcd panel tv. "No wonder they are so expensive!!"
Quality
It has a very good quality. However, when we are talking about quality on the TV, we must first check if our cable is good. To simply test it, hook it up with vcr or dvd and see for it. That really shows that my TV has very good quality. You can set it up as Movie, Pro or Standard. That changes the coloration a bit with the options in the remote controller.
Caption
Most TVs now have caption display. This one too is no exception. However, the menu does not explain what we have to choose. There are four of them from CC1 to CC4. CC1 works, and I just leave it as is.
Video ports
My relative has a 64 inches SONY Tvs which has 6 video ports. This one only has 3 1/2. Why 2 1/2 ? One of them is for special Ps Rs and I had no idea what that is still.
Anyway, My set up is video port 1 is from VCR, Video port 3 is for DVD. Video port 2 which is in the front, I set it for game or any external device such as another vcr or pc input.
Good feature
With Other device hooked up
There are three buttons on the remote. VCR/DVD, Cable/Satellite, TV. In other words, you can use your sony remote control to control your DVD/VCR or Cable/Satellite.
If you turn the green button which says vcr/dvd, then your vcr or DVD will be in use. You can use that as your remote. Same goes with Cable box/Satellite. It is very easy to program it. I did it like in 30 secs.
But it is just too bad, I have basic cable and I hook it up with one VCR and one DVD. So basically, I can only take advantage of only one function.
Picture mode
With one touch, you can set your color picture mode to be like movie, pro, vivid or standard (bright)
Parental control
You can actually set up password for channels that your kids won't be able to tune in accidentally. I am sure this feature is available with most tvs now.
Easy to set up and other features
Auto programming is like when you hook it up and it will scan for all the channels for you.
Jump allows you to flip two channels
Sleep allows it to turn it off as the time you indicate.
Cost
It cost above 600 dollars about a month ago. I bought it two days after thanksgiving. And I realized that this is the oldest model of SONY, meaning this is not the latest model. No wonder the cost comes down a lot.
What can be improved
1. Use with other device with your remote - As I mentioned above, it can only let you hook up VHS/DVD and CABLE BOX/Satellite. It should have more buttons than that.
2. Not enough video ports. Maybe 2 more will be better.
3. No picture in picture. With size like that, a little picture in picture function would be nice.
4. Weigh - 165 lbs is way too heavy.
Conclusion
I like it because it is easy to set up. I don't like because it is too heavy, not enough features. However, with the price like that. You can't expect too much from a flat screen TV. The box comes with 90 days manufacturer warranty and 30 days store warranty. If it breaks, I don't know if I ever can return to the store due to the heavy weight. I am keeping my finger crossed about the durability.
