I no longer go to theaters

Pros Crisp image, great colors
Cons Quality control is somewhat lacking
Recommended it? Yes
Like the title says, I no longer go to movie theaters. I'd rather wait for the movie to come out on DVD as the image on my Wega XBR is generally superior to the image I get on the screen in the theater.

The flat glass display is phenominal. It takes a few days to get used to it, but that's because you're so used to seeing distorted geometry. After you become accustomed to seeing parallel lines as parallel lines, there's no going back.

When I bought this TV, I was actually looking for an HD set. I've little fear of the problems usually associated with early-adoptership. However, I was less than impressed by the image quality of the rear projection HD sets (I *hate* rear projection) and Sony's glass tube HD was too small and expensive, and I didn't much like the dithering they do to make an NTSC signal show up on a Hi-Def screen.

Compound that with the absolutely stunning image on the 36" Wega, and it was a no-brainer. I'll wait a couple of years for the HD sets to get better, and in the meantime, I'll have a stunning visual display every time I turn on my TV.

Now, every rose has its thorn - so to speak.

The first *two* sets they delivered to my house were more or less DOA. That's right - third time's a charm. Though this doesn't say much for Sony's quality control, I've not had any trouble with the one that finally worked; so I guess once you get a good one, you should be ok.
