Sony 36" Wega XBR

Pros After calibration, a stunning picture
Cons WAY too heavy. It's still interlaced.
Recommended it? Yes
This TV has 4 picture modes to select from, and you need them all. You need to adjust just about everything you can adjust for EACH different video source. The picture modes allow you to save all the different set ups. For example, once I had a mode set up to look best for DVD. That mode became useless for any other source. Normal TV bleeds and turns to a color blob when viewed on the DVD picture mode. (I want add that I have not used the video calibration disc yet, but I have found that just using my eye has returned GREAT results.) This TV makes older sources like VHS and The Playstation look very old indeed. Every little pixel wobble and bit of picture noise can be seen. Also this TV does not like standard RCA video cables. I had to go buy a S-video cable for my Playstation just so I could look at it. It looked horrible with normal RCA cables. I'll list everything I had to do to make a nice picture from each component.(over simplified) WebTV: Running through the S-video input, I keep the sharpness high and the picture and brightness down. With so many static images on screen I want to reduce burn in. This clean signal looks great and never seems too dark. Seems nearly as sharp as a computer monitor, only 4 times as large.
