I finally got with the times and got an iPod in mid 2010. (Well, by getting I mean I got my college-aged daughter's hand-me-down.) Until then I would ocassionally listen to music on my Sony Erricson phone which was nice in a pinch but I never figured out if it has all the features like "shuffle" so I wound up listening to the same songs each time I used it. The earphone that came with my phone are okay but, since I didn't get the phone with the main goal of having a music player but more rather as a phone, I didn't really care either way about the earphones.
So, on a trip last summer I used my iPod for the first time and after a short, less than one hour plane ride, I thought my ears were going to fall off! Those ear buds that came with the iPOD are SO UNCOMFORTABLE. I don't know how my teenagers manage to keep them in their ears for as many hours a day as they do. Thus began an internet search for the ultimate ear phone at a price that my homemaker's non-existant salary could afford. These Sony earbuds got rave reviews and seemed extremely reasonably priced around $9.99. Soon after I decided that this was the pair for me and began saving my Swagbucks points to use towards an Amazon gift card to buy the earbuds I saw them on sale at Target for $7.50. So I pulled out a couple $5 gift cards I'd gotten for new or transferred prescriptions to the Target pharmacy and voila - I am the proud owner of these fantastic Sony earbuds, with Silver accents. (For all the fashion concious they come in a variety of really nice colors like pink, blue, green, yellow - but not my favorite color, brown.)
Much to my amazement, these ear buds really are as comfortable as everyone said they were! I guess my ears are a bit on the small side but still within the average range. These ear buds fit easily inside and have never fallen out. I use them for exercise walking in the park and when I am grocery shopping. The cord is extra long. In fact, I have it wound up a bit and twist-tied and still have plenty of slack to put my iPod in my pocket and move about reaching for items on high shelves and such. When I am done using them I wind the cord around itself and keep them in my glove compartment. I've been doing this for several months now and they are still in the same excellent shape as when I first took them out of the package.
There is a small "L" and "R" on the corresponding bud that are easy to see in bright light or store light. I don't think it would be much visible in dimly lit scenarios but I often wonder if it really makes that much of a difference. Either way the sound quality is phenomenal. I have been listening to some of these songs for ten years and am only now hearing things in the song or words in the song that I never heard or understood when it was coming from my car stereo speakers.
