Pros Beautiful unit that sounds just as good.
Cons Among all...very large price, one-off unit, poor support, etc.....
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  No.......get another Sony model or different brand alltogether. Whatever the price, it's hardly worth it....
While I was initially impressed with what the unit was "supposed" to do, it hardly comes close to being worth the price tag or promise.

To start with, the initial price for $1500 should include more than the unit and a box. Adding a remote and memory card would be good for starters. Without them, it only appears that Sony is interested in finding other markets for their removable media.

The largest complaint is that the unit does not truly download mp3's. It can only take tracks from audio cds or read digital music from the "Sony" branded disc man or memory card. Not that in the later two, both are copy protected by Sony. Seems that buying a product from a manafacturer also entails having to deal with their copyright concerns.

Sadly, the unit does not include a port for cd changers, so those wishing to do more than just listen to mp3 discs directly will be dissapointed.

In the end, I paid $899 for the display model. Seems the unit was discontinued....AND this was the only one ever sold by the store in question. Immediately I discovered the hard drive wasn't working. The unit failed to even acknowledge it had one. A few weeks later the cd player also stopped working.

Good thing I had allready resolved myself on getting a refund. It appears the unit is nothing more than a one time experiment for Sony. You'd think they would test their products before sending them out.....
