Pros Plays both CD's and MD's, High Speed DUB from CD-MD. Excellent MD features.
Cons No Digital Out, sometimes High Speed Dub doesn't work.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It's SONY. This stuff is made right the first time.
I've had my unit for quite some time now. It's been one of the best investments I've made. I have worked with many other units before, but for a consumer model with these features and funtionability is marvelous. The 4x High Speed DUB is great. The only problem I have had is when using a CD in the CD player, sometimes depending on the condition of the disc (scratches or dirt), if you try to High Speed DUB (HSD) to a MD, it will cut-off the HSD and play the disc at normal speed. The benefit is that you don't lose your recording, and things continue along fine....it just takes longer.

Other than that, the MD player is exceptional. This unit has the ability to alter the pitch of your MD in play mode. The feature alone is worth the extra $$ in my book. I use this feature all the time while I record and edit my music. Another great feature is the remote control. It has been slimmed down from previous remotes, and you double your playback functions for your MD or CD and flip a switch on the top of the remote. Titleing is simple, but if you can get the older remotes that have a button for every letter, that is the best time-saver.

Overall, this player sounds and looks great. One digital IN, One analog IN and OUT is fine. The lack of a digital out kinda sucks, but this is made to be a recorder first, then a player. It sounds great.
