When it is hotter then the hubs of hell

Pros Keeps the Room Nice and Cool
Cons None that I can think of
Recommended it? Yes

I know that most people do not think of Oregon as being a hot state.
But in the summer we do have our hot days.

Since the front of our house gets all of the morning sun in the front and the evening sun in the back, we had to get a air conditioner for at least one room. One room that... Read full review »

i'm taking a ride with my best friend

Pros You mean, you want me to fit that into fifteen words? No way!
Cons Let me think on that one.
Recommended it? Yes

This all started on a misunderstanding.

You see, I like to record my own voice and send it off to people. A subtle bit of egotism, though I keep insisting I don't think I can sing. And every device in the house that recorded audio tapes was starting to go wonky, recording at speeds much... Read full review »

Pros Remote control, save money if you buy now, great product, many different settings
Cons Energy conserving function is annoying
Recommended it? Yes

I recently moved into a new apartment and the building is quite old. Hence, the lack of a central air conditioning system. The building is right outside of Philadelphia and those of you who know the area know just how hot and humid the summers can be.

One of the first things I checked on... Read full review »

Better than most mp3 portables

Pros High capacity, cheap media, great battery life, relatively inexpensive, fast CD transfers
Cons Quirky software, no mic input, output not very loud, OpenMG makes mp3 use difficult
Recommended it? Yes

After some research, I bought the MZ-N505 for use with my motorcycle audio system. I've tried CD based systems in the past, including Rio Volt, but always had lots of trouble with skipping. I finally resorted to an Intel Audio Player 3000, which worked great, but I grew tired of having to go back... Read full review »

Pros Lots of Storage per disc, small, light, easy to use
Cons Clunky Software, Could have a larger volume range
Recommended it? Yes

Over the last few years I have built up a large MP3 collection and for the last several months I have been seriously looking at different MP3 players so that I could enjoy these MP3s while traveling in a "walkman" type device.

The flash memory MP3 players were alluring, but their small... Read full review »

Pros Great sound, USB interface, impressive battery life
Cons MP3 Software is terrible, no microphone inputs
Recommended it? Yes

The NetMD series of MiniDisc players from Sony is a godsend for music lovers that want to take their music on the go. Finally, there is a platform that allows me to use my computer to manage music on the affordable (about $2 per MD) MiniDisc media.

The price of flash-based media (like... Read full review »

My favorite player so far

Pros Inexpensive, great battery life, cheap media, light, good sound quality, quality hardware.
Cons OpenMG software stinks, can't copy from MD back to the PC, no remote included.
Recommended it? Yes

I like to ride long distances on my motorcycle, and I've tried a lot of different portable audio solutions. CD players were too bulky to comfortably store in a jacket or pants pocket, and the Rio has only 128MB of flash.

The MZ-N505 NetMD player is perfect for me. I can store 5 hours of... Read full review »

Cons stone age remote, small LCD screen, challenging software with stupid copyright features

I bought this unit after my old r700 finally kicked the bucket (a used/new ebay deal I somewhat regret)... and I've never been happier.

This unit is, in my oppinion, the perfect mid-point between regular MD player/recorders and MP3 players, and that at an affordable price.

Pros Light, Small, Quick, Good Quailty Audio, Fast (LP2) transfer of audio.
Cons SOFTWARE :( , user interface possible dislike.

I was getting a little annoyed by the fact that my CD player was becoming more of an annoyance, e.g. takes a lot of space in side pocket. Other than that it was fine (shock proof), however, it was time i placed it to the side.
My uncle loved his minidisc..and so did i..

Pros 60 hour battery life (hicapacity AA), doesn't skip, portabilty, excellent sound
Cons no backlight, cheesy headphones, poor software
Recommended it? Yes

The MZ-N505 is one of the best alternatives in portable audio. Sony's advances in MiniDisc technology (allowing transfers of mp3s to MD) make for excellent storage capacities, a long battery life, and great sound quality.

Being a very active person, I was looking for a portable audio... Read full review »
