The Bottom Line:
Minidiscs are small, and so is the player. If you want portable music, this is it.
I ordered my Minidisc player and it arrived the next day. Like a schoolboy, I bounced into the living room to open my new toy. And it was everything I expected it to be.
The sound quality is excellent, and much like an MP3, you can choose between different compression rates to adjust your sound quality to storage ratio. This means that you are able to record in either normal, LP2 or LP4 mode. These hold the same, double and quadruple the amount of music a CD holds respectively. Personally, I use the LP4 mode, as I think all three sound great, but I want to carry more music with me.
The battery lasts forever. It's great. I don't charge up for days at a time. Even then, charging up isn't a problem. It comes with a cradle which sits on your desk, and you can put it to bed each night leaving you with a freshly charged Minidisc player in the morning.
It comes with a remote control on the headphone cord which allows almost full access to the player - including display. This allows you to put your player safely in your pocket and means that you don't need to dig it back out again to operate it. Both the main unit and the remote have key locks too, so you can't accidentally hit buttons with your mobile phone . . .
