MZ - N510CK...great product

byvtw3 Sep 21, 2003
Pros good size, fast transfers, pretty durable, buttons are bigger, good battery life
Cons SOFTWARE SUCKS, no backlight, small screen
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Great sound, good portability, fast transfers, uses only 2 dollar discs (even less if you purchase more discs at a time), and looks cool
I bought an iriver mp3 player at first, then returned it because it was tooo small and i was afraid i was going to lose it. that thing was freakin tiny but it was still a great litte device. So i went with md since it was bigger and i was looking into it for a long time. I bought the mz 510ck because it was better than the 99 dollar one which dosen't have an ac adapter and has smaller screen than the n510ck (which is tiny).

I took it home and went and installed it right away...first thing i did was try to use real player to burn the songs onto the disc but you had to install sonicstage first...i installed it and tried to use it..crashed at least 3 times on me and i do not have a slow comp (p4 2.4 with 512 mb ram) importing the songs was a pain and the check out check in thing is completely stupid...one thing i can say about the softare is good are the fast transfers and the converting. Md Simple burner is just amazing compared to the crappy sonicstage. Fast transfers even though its coming from a cd.

Finally, the atrac3 compression is wonderful... LP4 is completely fine...those people that notice the difference on headphones are just psycho. LP4 is probably about the same as mp3 128 kbps-192kbps and i kno since i had an IRIVER mp3 player which probably had better sound than any mp3 player out there. Discs are portable and durable

If you are thinking about minidisc...go with the mz-n510ck otherwise if you're into mp3...go with the iriver or the nomad zen which is also good for a hard drive player

UPDATE: mine just broke after about 6 months of use...the sound is all distorted and i cannot really listen to anything. Sony said to send it in and the warranty for labor is over and I kno the labor will cost a lot so could someone give me an opinion on what kind of mp3 player or mp3/cd player i should get?

ANOTHER UPDATE: I kind of fixed it by using a pin and pulling the connectors out a little bit, its a lot better but if the plug is pushed in a little more the sound is distorted again.
