The Bottom Line:
I fully recommend for anyone who wants a small portable audio player with great sound and flexibility for any occasion.
I bought the N410 as a compliment to my other Sony MD player that is not Net/Computer capable (MZ-R501). The NE410 contains all of benefits that attracted me to purchase an MD player in the first place plus more.
Basic features include a long battery life (one AA), up to 5 hours of compressed music on one disc (with max compression I can't detect any loss in sound quality), lightweight and small. The NE410 comes in a black plastic case and provides the same shock proof design (I've not been able to make it skip and won't throw it to the ground to test any further)
Improvements include the ability to copy CDs directly to MDs and burn from MP3s and other formats from a computer harddrive. I found both software packages easy to use and faster than I expected. Previously one had to play a CD to copy it, however with this software making MDs is a snap! MDs created with the NE410 also work on my MZ-R501.
My one complaint is the cheap earphones that are twice the size of the player, with a set of ear buds the total package fits in a shirt pocket.
