A Good Mini-Disc Walkman With PCLink
Well it?s quickly approaching that time of year again and the dilemma of what to purchase for those difficult people is upon us. And trust me, my daughter is on that list! Knowing that she loves her music, I decided to purchase a mini disk Walkman for her. After quite a bit of research I settled on... Read full review »
Small Bondesque
I bought the MZ-R50 while I was in Japan 2 summers ago. I feel that I might have made a mistake by buying early since new audio products have followed it--the much smaller, MZ-R55 with indiglo remote stick, and Rio MP3 players.
However, the MZ-R50 has not gone out of date nor will it...

Gadget Nirvana
After watching the ads that introduced the R-50 during "Must-See-TV Thursday," Gadgetgrrl was literally in a sweat to get her hands on this hot commodity. Retail being (as always) slower than virtual reality, she was forced to buy it from a Manhattan "gray market" store, handing over 400 smackers... Read full review »
Great Sound In A Small Package
The great thing about minidisc is their portability. They are small enough to fit in your pocket, yet they pack as ound that is identical to CDs (to most people). The Sony MZ-R50 is a great minidisc player that lets the music of minidisc come to life.
Small enough to fit in the palm of your...

Old but Good
I'll start off my saying this may even be one of the greatest MD players.
I've read alot of reviews on this unit before I purchased it used over ebay because Sony stoped making it. But after hearing all about how great it is, I wanted to put it to the test. And it turns out that it is...

Want to carry around a lot of music for cheap?
I've had my tries at MP3 players, but they never impressed me much. The problem is that with MP3 players I'm always attached to a PC. If I want new music I have to go to my computer and transfer over music for listening. Then there's the problem of the cost of expanding a MP3 player and the initial... Read full review »
Sony MZR50, Minidisc Marvel
Minidisc Mania (or lack of)
Minidisc is already a very big thing in Japan. It?s been around forever (well, about a decade and a half is forever in today?s terms?). However, it?s only recently become more popular in other countries around the world. I don?t understand why it hasn?t been big yet...

Great sound to last a lifetime
I bought my MZ-R50 in 1999. So it is almost 5 years old this year.
Although I have not used it day in and day out, it's still seen a fair amount of use.
The unit is small, sleek, and the user interface elements on it just feel right.
The unit is able to record and...

Loved it, but sorely lacking NetMD (USB hookup)
I bought this a few years ago (maybe 2000 or so) on a whim. It was an open box discount, and I planned on trying it out and possibly returning it. I never did though.
First, the best things about it. It uses MD's, which are cheap (get for $1 each or less) which can hold 2.5 hours each...

Hardware Hackers Paradise!
Hi all. Before I start rambling, I will say this review is to state the standard and hackable features the MZ-R500 has to offer. First off, I want to let you all know that i hate sony... They incorperate the latest and greatest techonlogies (which I think is ****ing awesome) the way their... Read full review »
