Great recorder/player

Pros cool remote, recording and moving tracks is easy
Cons putting titles on tracks time consuming
Recommended it? Yes
I have had my MZ-R50 for over a year and a half, and I can honestly say that I still use it as often as when I first got it. The controls are simple to use, and the sound quality is excellent. Battery life is nothing much to worry about, as the Lithium Ion battery works well, and lasts long. I always charge my MD player after I use it anyway, so dead batteries aren't an issue for me.

The jog dial on the player is very convenient, as you can skip through tracks just by rolling the wheel, and then pressing it when you get to a track that you want to listen to.

I also use my MD player to record lectures whenever I need it to. Unlike a Microcassete recorder, I can create separate tracks, fast forward at larger increments, and have recordings of digital quality and sound. The recording capabilities of this unit are so simple to learn, and easy to manipulate, that one could buy this player/recorder solely to record outside sources digitally.

Also, with the advent of MP3 players, I still find my minidisc to be advantageous, since the cost of an average minidisc is about 3 bucks for 74 minutes of high quality audio, as the average 64 meg flash memory card is astronomically more expensive. When you look at all the features of this recorder compared to any other type of rewritable media, nothing can touch a minidisc.
