Undecided.
Pros
The way it uses only one AA battery.
Cons
Um, no jog-dial, no LCD on the remote.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I really can't decid wheather its a good piece of work, or if its just junk.
So this is one of the Sony Minidisc that I think falls on the line of a good MD player, and a bad MD player.
I say this because this Minidisc player has some really good features, and also has some bad ones, and all for a low cost.
Lets talk about the features:
Sound
So I'll tell you that this is a pretty good recording Minidisc for a fairly good store price. See thats the good thing, that it records at a cheap price, but heres the bad; it only records in mono sound. Sony "claims" that the reason it records in mono is so it can record like 140 something minutes on one md, but the truth is that it cost less to make a mono recorder.
Size
The size is barely any larger then "The Worlds Smallest Minidisc Recorder." Maybe just a couple of millimeters bigger on each side of the MD. No big deal
Battery
So most Minidisc players use a rechargable "chewing gum" battery; which is a more powerful, long lasting, thinner, 30 dollar battery. But the R70 doesn't use one of these batteries, which I think is a good feature. So the battery is abit bigger, but you only need one battery, and once you got a couple hours out of it, chuck it away about get a new one for less then a buck. And no need for 2 hours of recharging.
Remote
Well the remote is the little device that connects to the unit, and your headphones connect to the remote. They do this so while your unit is in your pocket you can control the songs without always taking the MD out of your pocket.
And this is really werid because all of the other Sony Minidisc units use a "stick remote" which displays song tittles, and other information. But for some reason Sony gave this unit a remote with no LCD screen, I guess thats another reason why it cost less.
Overall
Now this is what I can't decied. Do I recommend it, or don't I?
It doesn't have alot of features.
Yet some of the features are second class.
The second class features would explain the price.
Well I think I'll not recommend it, I don't want you to spend about 250 for it like I did. If your can find it for less then 200 go get it. But if not..
