Pros - Superior picture quality - Multi RW format - Made in Japan quality
Cons - A bit pricey but well worth the $$$
Recommended it? Yes

I have nothing but praises for the RDR-GX7. My first priority is Picture Quality, I have over 300 VHS, 8mm tapes to archive. Second is compatibility. I must be able to swap disks with friends and neighbors and reuse them over and over again.

When I try to use the one touch dub function on RDR GX7 with my Panasonic digital camcorder (NV-gs7), via the i.Link cable, it rewinds the tape, but it won't record. Cons coax out is only pass-thru, not for player confusing directions for recording

I bought this DVD recorder to offload some favorites and free up space on the Tivo. I chose this one because it has a wide variety of formats available, the Sony name and because it appeared to have a coax out- my big ole TV only has coax input.

Pros Good looking -- copies pictures from TV just fine.
Cons Won't copy VHS movies.
Recommended it? No

This is a very good looking machine and seems to have to quality that the Sony name means. However, if you are expecting to copy your movies to DVD FORGET it! Great Sony quality and easy to use. This recorder has been worth every penny of the $570 we paid for it.
