The Bottom Line:
A piece of Art from SONY that included higher technologies at that time.
Sorry for you lupelupe I suppose that was a defect that is rare... or may be a refurbished unit.
Most of the TVs nowadays got Multisystem, so will be no problem for the NTSC on PAL in the US.
This unit is a real breeze to setup, I have been using the unit for more than 6 years now, and still working fine. Although the Remote is a little bit tricky, watching Movies and Documentaries is a snap for this unit and a real entertainment. Even sometimes for a bad tape that might have a little distortion on some scenes, the digital auto tracking usually fixes this problem, and voila !.
And guess what this unit has a Reality Generator for Realistic Video...
Fast timer is a nice tool. Also weekly programming gives you near perfect results without surprises, its real cool.
Regarding connectivity, the composite OUT connector is just what you need to connect it to your AVR, or DVR. You shall get a clear/higher quality video if you connect it to the up-converting HD DVR's then from the DVR to the AVR... or from DVR directly to your TV.....thats the way you go!!
Audio wise, its real great quality Dolby HiFi sound... but Not TrueHD.... or even high Dolby audio offcourse ! (non of the latest qualities) But at least you shall get a higher audio again on the upscaling.
