The Bottom Line:
get hi end features without the price!
ok, i've been using md's for a long time, but this is the cake. if you ever read my previous reviews of minidisc recorders in general you'll know i'm an advocate of "standard" batteries. why? easy, if it runs out you can buy more since AA batteries are available anywhere. also, they're a lot cheaper to replace too. i usually keep a spare rechargeable with me at all times.
net md is the cake? yes, 45 hours of music on a single hi md disc at the highest compression setting. sony also gives the user the option to change these settings from the lowly 64 kb a sec setting to over 1 meg which is equals cd quality. of course lower compression equals less hours.
you might say, why buy this model over the cheaper hi md models? why? why? for one this model comes with a headphone remote, this is a must for us active people out there. especially if you enjoy running and want the ablity to change songs without stopping by adjusting the remote which i usually clip on my shirt collar. very convient, you got to trust me on this one.
another feature the mz-nhf800 has over the 600 and 700 is a virtual surround setting, so if you want to hear your song in a more 3d like effect this feature will make you smile.
also, you can use this unit as a storage device to store word files, movies, etc. this is great if you need to transfer files, or even backup files from your computer.
if you want the best md for the buck without sacrificing features pick the mz-nhf800. again, this unit has all the bells, it's a music player, recorder, has lots of inputs like line in, optical in, usb, mic in, and so on. battery life is around 20 hours so you should get plenty of enjoyable hours out of this killer unit.
so what do i think of this unit. it's the cake!
