Bit Pricey, Worth the money
Pros
mp3 CD playback, Remote, SONY name, accompanying software, portability, Sound Quality.
Cons
If plugged out, Plays from start. CD tray design bit delicate for the ignorant.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A good buy although should have been about $20 cheaper. It's a SONY, good quality stuff. Plays mp3s, good for those outdoor grills/camps. Less CD to carry.
Hey its a SONY, has to be a good one. Well, i wanted a boombox that could play mp3 CDs since i hate carrying hundreds of CDs and think the mp3 players are still overpriced. I wanted portability. It does play mp3s pretty well (based on their encoding/recording quality of course). Plays all the files no matter the folders. sound quality is very good, not surprisingly, since sony does make some good products. my other option was an RCA boombox for 50 bucks and i passed that for this one i got for $80 on Amazon.com. Plays regular CDs well too. With mp3 playback, it scans the whole CD b4 playing, maybe creating a filestructure or something. has a nice remote to go along. Can use battery to run, obviously, since its a boombox. Quite a different but handy design, especially when i see the weird shaped JVCs in the shop.
I haven't given the software a shot yet but am sure it is good.
The display shows file name scrolling, the encoding and any filetags.
there are prettty basic functions in this box, no fancy stuff, about 4-5 equilizer presets, megabass, AM/FM reception is pretty good too.
Overall, if you are looking for a CD boombox, this is worth the investment. Better spend the additional 20-40 bucks on a good stuff.
