The Bottom Line:  Feb 25 '02 - If you can find a new one for $400 or less, get it; otherwise, look for a newer model. Apr 22 '00 - Buy Buy Buy!!
I had the link to the specs, but Sony took this model off their site (which has HORRIBLE searching, btw).

First, I have to say that I have barely explored the options of the mother of a receiver just because I haven't had too much time on my hands with college and all...

Anyways, this thing is simply amazing. I won't go into details about the specs since I gave you a link to it. It pretty much has everything you could ask for in a receiver, including S-video for you TV! It's a nice gift for you techies out there because there's a whole bunch of buttons and cable ins/outs to plug things into and such.

The remote control is HUGE! It's a nice touch screen remote (like palm pilot), so that's a nice feature, but I haven't used it because I have the receiver sitting on my desk. I can reach over and do what I want. No need to use the remote and waste batteries :) (i've heard that the remote chews up batteries, but don't quote me on that)

Like I said, I haven't explored a bunch of its features, including the dolby surround sound :( Why? Because I don't have dolby speakers or a sound card that supports dolby (i have the SB AWE 64 - I'm waiting for the plantium to go down in price)...I promise tho that once I get dolby sound card or at least dolby speakers (I'll just set it up in my living room w/ the TV) I'll edit this review and post what I think...

Only small problem is that it generates a bit of heat...but it comes with a "ventilation" system ... just don't put anything on it that is sensitive to heat

All in all, a great receiver!
