Looks like $300 player but performs like a $199 player!
Pros
Looks sharp (when its off); pays Mp3s; removable face; low cost.
Cons
Display is dull; Power could be better.... Display lights look even duller at night!
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
For $199 this unit is hard to beat. But if you have a few more bucks spend it on a higher/better model!
I like this car stereo because it plays mp3s, looks good in my car and it cheap! For $199.00, I can't ask for more.
The face is removable; it flips open to accept CDs, but does not flip to hide the face (but that's ok in my case).
The 8 color display light option it has is cheesy. The display is not fancy at all, but gets the job done. It reads text from your Mp3 cd's and displays about 8 characters at a time.
The control layout is excellent. Push one button to quickly set bass, terrible, Sub-Bass, etc.
I like the fact that it has RCA jacks for an external Bass amp, like from a Bazooka tube (sub-woofer) with built in amp. You can then control the bass from the dash!
At night the display for the main controls is RED and cannot be changed. Only the display window can change color; but again the colors are cheesy (no life to the display).
Installation was a snap as I bought the unit with optional wiring harness (circuit city sells them). It added about $50 to the price, but it was well worth it as I didn't have to cut or splice one wire!
It has a remote if you're really lazy! If all you're willing to spend is $199, then this is an excellent choice. $199 was the limit my wife put on me; wait till I tell her the 10" Bazooka tube/amp costs $229!!
