Average Car Stereo
Pros
Functionality and appearance are very good. Front AUX port for mp3 player. Price/features.
Cons
Inferior sound quality and tuner reception.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend this deck as there are others with better sound quality in the same price range.
I purchased this CD player from Best Buy about a week ago for $130. I did not replace my factory speakers. Cons: 1. I found that the mid levels were just as high if not higher than my factory stereo. I blamed my factory speakers for this issue. I ended up returning this stereo and buying another. I found that the below average sound quality was coming from the stereo and not the speakers. 2. Another problem I had was the tuner reception. The very slight static pops here and there drove me nuts. This was not something that a lot of people would make an issue out of, but it was very annoying to me. I didn't have this with my factory unit. Pros: The front AUX port is a very handy feature for hooking up an mp3 player. I don't have an mp3 player, so I won't judge its functionality. Searching through mp3/wma files on cd was easy and logical. Adjusting the bass/mid/treble was also easy. The bottom line on this stereo in my opinion is that the sound quality and tuner reception is inferior to other stereos on the market. I ended up purchasing a Pioneer DEH-p3700MP ($20 more). This resolved my reception and sound quality issues. See my review on the Pioneer.
