Replacement Headunit

Pros Easy to install, good sound, XM ready.
Cons Display limited to 8 characters. Can't see completely who's performing on XM.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would definitely recommend it. This works for me very well. It's got the cassette player and is XM ready!
I bought this Sony to replace the original AM/FM/cassette player in my 300ZX. There are not many choices when it comes to cassette players. Most are CDs now. Since I have a dozen or so cassettes in the car, a cassette player was needed. I went to Crutchfield's website for advice. There were only 3 choices that would fit my car. I wanted a radio that was XM ready AND a cassette but they said none would fit. I selected the XR-F5100 anyway. They said if it didn't fit, they would take it back within 30 days. I installed it and if fit fine.

Since my Z has a Bose system and a new headunit won't work with the Bose speakers, I had to get the Scosche adapter. So, I got the Sony, the Scosche, the XM tuner and good instructions and advice from Crutchfield. I installed everything with relative ease. When everything was connected, I turned it on. . . AND IT WORKED.

I'm very satisfied with the sound quality of the Sony. It's got enough buttons for 3 radios, but once you get through the well-documented owners manual, it's easy to understand. I can play the XM by using the radio controls. The only "problem" is the display is limited to 8 characters. So if Jonathon Frompy is playing on XM, all I see is Jonathon. . Jonathon WHO?

I would definitely buy this Sony again!
