Easy to get >4x speed update disc; good quality unit, easy to use.
I've now owned Sylvania's DVR90VE for over a year. In that time, I've burned many, many discs with it. I haven't used the VCR more than a few times, to play some movies. I've been very happy with the quality of this unit over time.

No problems at all
Have read the other reviews and have had none of the problems other folks experienced. I have had this machine for two months and have transferred over twenty VHS tapes to DVD. Lots of issues, does job if you are patient
this unit is limited to only a few brands of DVD-R, and then only 4x or less. BUT they will send you a CD to upgrade the unit to accept universal disks, IF you are lucky enough to get a real tech support person who can tell you this is the problem. Poor quality machine
We have an extensive VHS collection that we want to transfer to more stable media. Low price means low quality
This is one case where shopping by price is woefully wrong. This product is sold as a DVD recorder and VCR player, with the capacity to record onto a DVD from a VCR.
