The Bottom Line:
I think this is a very good quality HD television for the money, picture is excellent, no problems with sound, very pleased so far!
My husband is a satellite television installer, so he sees the pictures on HD televisions all day and is a pretty good judge of picture quality. Of course, Sony has an excellent picture and I would guess is most likely rated number one, and we have one of those sitting in our family room. It is a couple of years old, so I would guess overall HD picture quality has improved since then, as well as the size and weight being reduced, but I am just amazed at this particular Olevia/Syntax television!
We picked this set up for a bedroom so we didn't need a large size, and saw it at Target on sale. I had a 10% off card, so I dont remember exactly what I paid but I believe it was around 600.00, which is about what I wanted to spend, although I suspect they would bee even cheaper now as prices seem to keep coming down. My husband had seen a lot of Vizeo sets from Costco in this price range, and also had seen the Olevia/Syntax brand of sets. We went with Olevia/Syntax mainly for the price and the 10% savings. I am very glad we did! I think this TV has an excellent picture, and while I see some issues about sound, I have had no complaints. We both actually think the picture quality is superior to the Sony, but I suspect some of this is due the the fact that this set is two years newer and the technology keeps improving. I have recommended this brand to others, and nobody has been disappointed so far! If I need to replace another set, I would certainly look at this brand again based on my experience!
