If Olevia were a woman, I'd marry her! (Just don't tell my wife)
Pros
Unbelievable value for the price, Great picture, HDMI input
Cons
Difficult to setup and tune, Laggy remote, Less than stellar customer service.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This is a great looking TV for a fantastic price. The 323v would be a great addition to your HD bedroom!
Once again Olevia has come through in my book. The 323V is a 27" LCD television that will pack the picture of a high end set for 1/3 of the cost.
The first "pro" of this TV is the price! As is the case with most Olevia TVs you are going to be getting a great TV at a very low price. I picked this TV up for $300 and I can tell you that the picture quality is that of a $600+ TV.
Size
The 323V is only a 27" set, so it is not big enough for your full size living room... but it looks great in the bedroom! The screen is not huge, nor is the sound too far reaching, but unless you sleep in an 800 square foot bedroom, it should be enough.
Features
The 1600:1 contrast ratio makes for a picture sharper than Sweeney Todd's razor.
Digital cable looks very crisp and clear in 720p using HDMI.
Utilizing this HDMI input will also allow Xbox 360, PS3 and up converting DVD players to look amazing on this television.
I can totally understand the complaints I have read about this TV only having 1 HDMI input; however, my opinion is - at least it has one! Call me a glass half full kind of guy, but I can show you a list of 10 other TVs in this size / price range without any HDMI capabilities whatsoever.
If you have more than one thing that needs to be connected to via HDMI you can either switch the plug manually (annoying yes, but how often will you have to do this?) or purchase an HDMI switcher for ~ $50.
The HDMI inputs are what are going to make your cable, movies, and video games look great... so be grateful you have this option. I wouldn't recommend purchasing any HDTV without HDMI.
The "bad"
Moving right along, I gave you the good... now for the bad.
This TV is not easy to setup. I can tell you right now that unless you have 100/200 vision you will not think this TV picture looks great out of the box. Many adjustments need to be made to the color, temp, contrast etc. You can find the ideal settings relatively easily by searching Google for your TV model and "picture settings". Best Buy and Circuit City (Geek Squad and Fire Dog), can come to your home and make tune the picture of this TV to as good as it gets. This is a great service, but I cannot recommend paying a technician $150, to tune a $350 TV. Google it!
It has been said 100 times before but the stock remote is comically bad. Laaaagggggg time, there is a noticeable delay between when you hit a button and the TV executes the command. I think the degree of the problem can vary based on your cable box / provider. I would advise getting a nice universal remote, but be warned; it is not easy to find one compatible with this TV. Again... Google search is your friend.
Also, as was the case with my other Olevia TV review, customer service is less than stellar. I go more in-depth regarding this in my Olevia 527v review (click here for review) but in a nutshell - you get a 1 year warranty. If anything goes wrong with the TV you will have to pay to mail it back to Olevia. They will take at least a month, if not more, to diagnose, refurbish and send you back your TV. I have never had a single problem with an Olevia TV, but others have, and from what I gather it is not fun!
Conclusion
All and all, like most Olevia's, this TV is not without flaws but in this case the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. The Olevia 323v is Yet another great looking TV for an unbelievably low price!
