A very good bargain television

Pros Light television, good image, easy to set up, good price
Cons Low contrast ratio makes darker environments hard to see, only 1 HDMI/component hookup
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A quality television with a good but not great combination of sound and image, but is very hard to beat at its available price as well.
So about a year ago I started getting higher end video game systems (it started with an Xbox 360) and I wanted to upgrade from my 27" tube television to an HDTV. This started a search through various places with a very reluctant wife of mine, before we settled on this particular television.

The first one we bought was from ABC Warehouse and did not power up properly. We took it back and found an even better deal on the same one from Circuit City and it worked fine. Overall thoughts:

- Setup was easy
- It was light and easy to move
- Several hookups are available including component and HDMI

Overall, it has been a very good television (I've had it for more than a year now), and while I would like a larger one with a better contrast ratio (some games like Mass Effect force me to change my in-game contrast/brightness settings because otherwise the darker environments are hard to see).

Another thing that is an issue, at least for me, are the relatively few number of hookups. I have an Xbox 360, PS3, DVR cable box and a DVD/Sound system hooked up to it. This has forced me to use the HDMI for the PS3 and a component switcher box from RCA for the other 3 items (which was an additional cost and an annoyance in having to toggle things).

The audio is very average - it does not sound bad or particularly good. I have it muted most of the time, and just pipe my audio into my sound system from the component switcher.

Additional info as requested:

I don't see how to edit the original post, so I will put just a bit more information in here. It was an 800:1 contrast ratio. The warrenty I want to say was 1 year, but I did not really worry about that too much, because at the time of purchase they were offering 4 year warrenties through Circuit City -really- cheap at the time, so I was covered there.

I did find it disconcerting that the first one I bought simply did not work.

720p resolution.

The remote is 'okay'. I don't have much trouble with it, but my wife and kids often select the wrong thing on it, so I don't know if it would be considered terribly intuitive or not to the average use (I used to do audio/visual installations for a university, so perhaps my learning curve was a bit better).
