The MDA is awsome with some care

Pros Windows environment, programs and features. Compatibility. Connectivity.
Cons Short battery life with heavy use. Really needs a better antenna.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Highly recommended especially at the price. Complete connectivity for business and personal. Good display & device size.
The review by meagandowney is great is very thorough. I quiet enjoyed reading it and was written well.

IN SHORT
I was making the switch from the Palm Treo650 to a Windows Mobile device and researched this phone and others. I was most impressed after reading the Pocket PC Magazine comparisons and reviews on ppc's in the April/May 2006, especially at a price of $250.00.
It's is a pocket pc in every sense of the word. The MDA device and WM OS are short of nothing to keep you connected. I think the MDA is marvelous, but takes a little know how to keep it running smoothly, which is not untrue of many other Microsoft Operating Systems. I'll give you a few tips.
The MDA is slower than many Windows Mobile devices, simply because it is an average of 100 MHz + slower than most other WM devices (e.g. Palm 700 = 312 MHZ vs. MDA = 195 MHz).

SHORT LIST OF FEATURES
802.11 wireless, IR, Bluetooth, Terminal Services Client, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MSN, AOL, Yahoo & ICQ messengers, Internet Explorer, Windows media player, Voice Dialer, Clear View PDF reader all standard. This is the smallest device available with that screen size.

KEEPING IT RUNNING SMOOTHLY
Upgrade the ROM. That's right, the ROM on the phone is most likely not the newest. Google it. You'll find is easily. Expand your search, it is the same device branded by iMate, Qtek, Jasjar, and others.
Use good quality screen protectors. Wear and tear without them will make you wish you did.
If you like to install and try lots of free utilities & games, you're going to have problems and you'll be resetting all of the time. Software conflicts effect performance and is common in Windows Mobile. This is the OS and not the device. Spend $40 - $70 on software and utilities you actually need that enhance the device and are Windows Mobile certified. Consider
Go big on your memory card. At least a gig. I paid under $40 for a Kingston 1GB miniSD. Install every program that is not specifically recommended for the main memory to the memory card. Save all your attachments , documents, pictures, videos, mp3's etc on the memory card.
Many companies have had difficulty with exchange server & SP3 for push mail. The easy solution to push mail is IMAP or POP3 (IMAP is your best option).
ActiveSync 4.1 or above will sync anything and also let you browse your files. If you get sync errors, delete the device profile on your desktop (not your device) and set it up from scratch. You will not lose anything and it's easier and quicker than using the troubleshooter.
One must have program is the Microsoft Voice Commander (for any WM device). This is a voice recognition software that is so intuitive, you can control most of Windows Mobile, including help, schedule and appointments, battery and signal strength, play music (by artist, album, genre), and of course your phone too, with not only your contacts but you can speak dial any number. Best of all, it doesn't require voice training.
If it's a toy then it's the wrong device but for a business or personal tool it's everything you need.
