Mega Mojo Magik... TDK's red hot CD-MP3 player

byyusakugo Oct 30, 2001
62 Helpfuls 63 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent menu system, sturdy design, CD-R/RW storage, large anti-skip buffer
Cons firmware NOT upgradable, too much competition now, only MP3 and CDA support... no WMA!
Recommended it? Yes

The RioVolt isn't alone out there... that once weak world of CD-MP3 players has been dominated totally by the RioVolt/Soul Player. RioVolt browbeat all the rest of the competition into faint memory... however, the competition doesn't like to lie on their backs soooo... Here comes the one of the... Read full review »

Pros Excellent menu design, large anti-skip buffer, solid overall design
Cons Only MP3 and CDA files, no flash ROM for firmware upgrade, cheaper options
Recommended it? Yes

I first reviewed this under the TDK MOJO MP3-CD Player at epinions but almost a half year has passed and epinions added this section. Time to update this review seeing that several new options have appeared in the MP3 hardware world.

Overview/Impressions

Well, I'm changing up my... Read full review »

TDK Mojo 620, only a slight improvement to the original.

Pros Great design, remote control and great player too.
Cons Still no WMA support, short battery life compared to Sony.
Recommended it? Yes

Now that I have myself one of those MP3 CD players for my car, now I need one that I could really use outside the car and the home, or even up at my resort home near Sudbury, ON. But this time, instead of those that offer the FM tuner or that they just offer those conventional designs without... Read full review »

I Want My TDK Mojo

bygorocco Nov 14, 2001

Pros Easy MP3 searching, long EPS times for both audio CDs and MP3
Cons No WMA support, no inline remote, firmware is not upgradeable, battery hog
Recommended it? Yes

TDK's CDMP3-12 (Mojo Digital Jukebox) is the latest entry into the world of CD-MP3 players. How is it separating itself from the competition? The Mojo emphasizes a new, easy-to-use interface for finding your songs. And TDK delivers with a great sounding CD-MP3 player that provides a powerful yet... Read full review »

I'm choosing a different model

byHesRightUNo Aug 12, 2002
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros cool backlit display, lots of menu-driven features, plenty of volume
Cons problematic operation (see review); comparatively short battery life
Recommended it? No

I purchased the Mojo, along with competing models from Samsung and Panasonic, with the idea in mind that I'd return two and keep my favorite. (None of the stores offer an in-store demo model - all three stores offered a 30-day money-back guarantee.)
Compared with the others, the Mojo is a bit... Read full review »

An all around great product

Pros Great indexing system
Cons Slow startup, short battery life
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the TDK Mojo 620 as my first ever MP3 player, and I was actually pleasently surprised. The Mojo fulfilled (and still fulfills) my expectations.

It plays all of my MP3 files, it hardly ever skips a beat (When it does, it's because of faulty MP3s) with it's 8 minute ESP, it has a... Read full review »

It's a mixed bag of raisins and chocolate

Pros cool backlit LCD, many options
Cons SHORT! battery life:(
Recommended it? Yes

I was either gonna go with Sony or TDK. I spent about an hour in the store just staring at both Sony D-CJ506CK and TDK Mojo 620, meticulously dissecting every inch of their design, within the limits of their sealed plastic packagings. If I had the money I would?ve gotten both.

Hands down... Read full review »

What more could you ask for?

byneo1234 Jun 30, 2002
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Support for lyrics, power-saving spindown while playing, only 2 AA's
Cons Doesn't support WMA or mp3PRO (but upgradable!), battery troubles.
Recommended it? Yes

This thing is simply awesome. Its flash ROM is upgradable and it even lets you edit the startup screen. It has a memory for up to 10 CDs so it doesn't have to spend an entire hour cataloging the CD every time you turn it on. You can pick exactly what music you want to hear, what artist, what genre,... After months of scrutinizing work in trying to find a portable mp3 player, I found the TDK Mojo. I couldn't be happier with it. I bought mine online for well under the list price (thanks to a rebate). I basically wanted an mp3 player that I could take in my car (my girlfriend and I love long road... Read full review »

Great except for fatal flaw

byjpgmd Feb 18, 2002
7 Helpfuls 8 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros super-easy navigation; separate lines for title and artist; shows bitrate; easy playlist...
Cons CANNOT SCAN WITHIN MP3 FILES
Recommended it? No

I bought the TDK Mojo in May 2001, and returned it a month later.
The player itself worked great, sounded great, and was a blast to use. EXCEPT for the one flaw that made me return it: you cannot scan forward/backward within a song (MP3 that is, on an audio CD this works).
Think long and... Read full review »
