The Bottom Line:
If you're thinking about buying a portable DVD player I would honestly consider not spending too much on one.
I bought my Toshiba SD-P1600 nearly two year ago for somewhere around two hundred dollars. I am certain that this model can be found for a lesser price. Nonetheless, I wouldn't recommend spending nearly two hundred dollars for one of these devices, especially when there are a lot of less expensive brands that do just as good of a job.
The device itself is about the size of a DVD case but twice the thickness. It's black and silver covering, and shiny silvery buttons, give it a nice appearance. If you are one of those people who are impulsed into buying things because of the way they look, I'm sure you will purchase this device the second you lay eyes on it.
The speakers on this bad boy are especially of low quality. Unless you are inside a sound proof room you'll most likely have difficulty hearing your movie when other noise is present.
The picture itself is flawless, especially for a 7" screen.
This device also features DVD-R/CD/VCD playback, multiemedia support for JPEG viewing, MP3 and WMA playback. I really don't know how much people really care about these sort of things. As long as it plays the movie, I could care less of what other features it posses.
One wonderful thing to have that is included with this celestial machine is a car cord power adapter. Very useful for when you are on one of those long road trips. Hopefully your car has one of those electric cigerette lighters to plug the adapter into, and if you do I hope it works.
The rechargeable lithium ion battery makes it useful so you don't have to stop watching your movie whenever power goes out, or when the car is turned off.
All together this is a good machine, but for the price I paid, I certainly don't think it's worth it. You would do just as well with a cheaper brand like polaroid or something; or even this same DVD player if it is at a much lower price.
