The only unit that works with my driving

The Bottom Line:
This is a great portable DVD player. It does not skip like the $99 specials. I think I made a great buy.
Today at work one of the Toshiba SD-P1600 came out of pawn. As luck would have it I also just purchased a new van. I can not speak for the longevity of the device as it was manufactured this year and I have only had the unit for a matter of hours. I will recommend just on what I've seen so far that this is one of the finest Portable DVD Players I have ever seen.
I immediately installed the DVD player in the van and the process was a pleasure. Once mounted hook up to my surround system and second video monitor was easy as could be. Digital Coax allowed me to run all my audio via one line. I will admit that an S-Video output would have been a little more convenient but in reality this is my vehicle not my living room composite will have to do.
The big test was yet to come. I knew I better fill up the gas tank on the way home because I knew as soon as the kids saw the DVD player a drive would be in my near future. Were the discs going to skip? That was the big test for me. I have had 2 or 3 of these portable DVD players and they all skipped. We drove for 2 hours and watched Lion King 1 ? and the disc did not skip once. I even drove over some nice sized pot holes just as a test.
The picture was clear and the audio through the surround system was wonderful. For personal use the audio directly from the unit would be sufficient. The remote control was easy to use and the kids picked up on it almost immediately.
I would suggest to anyone that they spend a little more money and go with this better product than one of the $99.00 bargains that usually end up being more of a headache than something to enjoy.
