Tasco Provides Quality At A Reasonable Price

Pros Compact, Lightweight, Inexpensive, Durable.
Cons Adjustment knob adjusts both knobs at the same time.
Recommended it? Yes
My wife purchased the Tasco Lumina Compact Binoculars for my birthday four years ago. I have used these binoculars several times since that time, and have been very satisfied with them. The model number on my set is #11-1025-1. Because it has been four years since I purchased mine, the model numbers have changed. The set I own provide vision equivalent to 286 feet from 1000 feet, which is closest to this set, which provides the equivalent of 288 feet from 1000 feet.

We purchased these binoculars from Best Buy, and paid under fifty dollars for them. It seems that they were actually closer to forty dollars. The binoculars are compact, with an attractive design. The lenses are "rubicon lenses." I am not certain exactly what rubicon means, but the lenses have a reddish tint. I believe that this reduces any glare.

I have used these binoculars at sporting events, as well as employing them while conducting surveillance. The thing I like most about them is that they are compact. They are easily concealed, and fit nicely in my hands. They are also lightweight, which makes them less of a bother to bring to sporting events.

The two lenses may be moved closer or further apart, by pulling or pushing with both hands. This makes it easy to adjust them to fit your eyes. One negative aspect of these binoculars comes in the form of the focus knob. There is only one knob, and it adjusts both lenses at the same time. If you do not have fairly equal vision in both eyes, it makes it difficult to get a really clear image. The knob is located on top, between the two halves. Because the binoculars are small, you may knock them out of focus, accidentally, adjusting the binoculars.

These binoculars are high quality, durable, compact and light weight. I would recommend them for anyone who does not want to invest in a higher priced set of binoculars. They have worked well in indoor arenas (the Pontiac Silverdome, the Palace and the United Center), as well as outside. The only drawback is the adjustment knob, which doesn't allow for individual lens adjustment.
