A year later, Don't even bother!!

Cons
noisy changing discs, can't read discs burned higher than 8x, mostly skips ALL CD'S
Recommended it?

The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend. I've had it for about a year, and it has not been good. Skipping...Skipping...Skipping.
Updated Review (1 Year Later):
I wanted to update you on this product. I have had some problems with this Changer. First, it skips a lot. I know what they say, its because of the burned cd's right? Well, not only that, it skips on regular cd's too!! The quality on which this unit is made is terrible. This has surprised me since Panasonic owns Technics. I would have hoped for a better product. 2) It is stubborn with burned CD's. Burned Cd's have a hard time playing on this machine. It is right, you cant burn a cd faster than 8x or the player wont read the disc. This is a real let down, because now to listen to a cd skip (lol) I have to wait longer to hear it! Overall, pass on this product, it has not been good to me.
I purchased the SL-MC7 over the Internet last summer ('02). It was very easy to set up, just the power cord is really all you need to worry about. The unit is pretty heavy, but you had to expect that! I would recommend getting a MONSTER fiber obtic cable ($30-60) for the digital out slot on the back of the unit. With the cable, the sound is incredible. Also realize that you have to have good quality speakers for the unit to preform at its full potential. I don't have the best speakers, but they're alright (Onkyo). The features on the unit are great for the price (I paid $150). Some of the modes are random mode for a single disc and random mode for all the discs. You can also customize certain cd's as your favorites. The text mode feature is very cool. If you have a cd burning program like NERO, you can customize whatever you want to call your songs and they will display on the SL-MC7. The one thing that really ticked me off was something I found out just last week. Using NERO, I burned a cd at 48x and tried to play it back on the unit. It skipped and even started playing songs from different tracks and the text was displaying other songs while I was doing this. I did, however, find that if I burned the cd at 8x, it played the songs without skipping (as far as I know.) Another drawback which really doesn't bother me but some people it does is the loud noise of the changer while it changes cd's. I don't mind this because the high speed of the changer (changes discs every 10 seconds) is a plus. The remote is easy to use and has all the necessary buttons for the superior couch potato.
All in all, for $129-$149, this is a very good buy for people like me who just need 100 or less discs to play. I wouldn't recommend getting a 150 unless you got a lot of cd's that are gathering dust. Well, I hope this review helps and go out and buy this player. Oh by the way, Technics is a part of Panasonic, so dont worry about the name brand. It's pretty much a panasonic quality product.
