Technics SL-MC7 CD Player/Changer
Pros
Relatively compact size, good sound, optical digital out
Cons
It takes about 10 seconds per disc change
Recommended it?
Yes
Looking at the Technics SL-MC7 110+1 CD changer, you would not think that it holds 110 discs behind its see-through panel. The front panel flips down, so you can easily access the discs inside. They are loaded in slots and can be played in any order. The blue LED lightning is very attractive.
The remote has somewhat small buttons, and all keys are of the same size, except bigger ?Play? and ?Stop? buttons, so it takes some time to figure out which button to press. The remote itself is of medium size, and you don?t have to point it directly to the changer, as some other brands? remotes require.
There are two ways to keep track of the CDs loaded in the changer. You can use the enclosed photo album-like portfolio, to store the CD jackets in numerical order, corresponding to the number of CD in the changer. This album has plastic durable pockets.
The second way is to use a CD Text feature. It reads information from the compatible discs and automatically displays the album title, artist, and songs. Most newer discs bear this information, but if the disc doesn?t have it, you can enter it manually using the keypad on the front panel or remote.
The single-play function (there is a special single-play slot that holds additional disc, thus this changer has ?110+1" designation) is convenient if you want to listen to the borrowed CD.
Discs can be grouped electronically by music style, artist, etc. And these groups can overlap, also you can name your own groups.
The sound quality is excellent and it is also easy to use. The disc change takes about 10 seconds and does not produce a lot of noise.
The numbers also look impressive with dynamic range of 92 dB and Signal/Noise Ratio of 100dB!
There is an optical digital out, which you can use to transfer your music to another digital music device like digital receiver, minidisc or CD/R recorder.
