A nice device
Pros
No commercials, clean install, small
Cons
XM's programming is weaker than Sirius, occasional signal drop out
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A definite recommendation if you are looking for a clean install without having to replace your factory deck.
I bought this device because it was going to be the cleanest installation in my BMW 7 series. It was installed by the Good Guys and I couldn't be happier. The antenna is tiny and barely noticeable. The only equipment I see is the cord coming from under the seat and the controller box that I can hide away wherever I like. I like the idea of being able to hide the device as not to entice thieves.
Overall, the device is quite easy to use. If I had designed the product, I would have chosen different buttons as sometimes I had to push a button twice to get a response. The display works well enough for my needs.
The FM modulation is a bit quiet. There is an incredible difference in volume when I switch the stereo from XM to my CD player. All in all, the audio quality is pretty good and I haven't had any tremendous problems.
Reception has been pretty good as well. There are a few places where the signal would drop for no apparent reason. I suspect that this will be improved over time as XM adds more repeaters to their network.
The programming was good, though, quite honestly, I prefer the musical content on Sirius to suit my needs. Though there is no doubt in my mind that anyone would be happier with satellite radio than broadcast.
