Best "after market" XM adapter

Pros Good quality sound, TONS of stations, small footprint on dashboard, price
Cons Tuneselect feature doesn't work for me, must turn off XM to surf FM
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Highly recommended to anyone that travels. Best use of $10 a month. Sound quality would be PERFECT if using RCA inputs.
I've had the Terk XM Commander for about 4 months now. I first purchased a Roady for my dad, then, after seeing how that was a little too big for me, purchased an XM Commander.

This unit is really awesome. I'm running it through an "XM Ready" Alpine headunit, however, I didn't want to spend the 300 bucks for an Alpine XM Receiver. I paid about 120 for the XM Commander from Ebay.

The sound quality is overall "Good". It would receive an "Excellent" if it wasnt' for the fact that I'm using it FM Modulated. I thought my Headunit had an auxillary input, but, it didn't!

Installation took about 45 minutes... I bolted the hideaway unit to my subwoofer, and had all the cables I needed right there, so, that's why it took me a lot less time than most. If you didn't have everything "ready" like I did, it would take you 2-4 hours most likely.

The small display unit is mounted on my dash of my 2002 Camry, it really looks like it fits there. I used the included velcro, but didn't use the dash plate.

Now for the features.... it has 3 preset categories with 10 presets for each category. I only use preset A, b/c it's a pain to switch to different preset category's. There is a feature called "TuneSelect", which in theory is really cool.. You see a song you like, press the enter button for two seconds, and then it will alert you via a beep when the song is playing on any of the XM channels. I have yet to figure out how to use it!!! I've done everything that XM told me to, yet it doesn't work (AT ALL!)... I'm wondering if I have a defective head unit, or if I didn't install something right. That's my ONLY complaint... not a big deal though.

The included remote is really nice too so you can keep your eyes on the road and not trying to look at the unit to change channels. Because it's FM Modulated though, you must turn off the XM headunit before you try to scroll through regular FM channels... It will give you static if you don't.

Overall, I highly recommend anyone that travels or is in their car for more than 20 minutes a day to get XM NOW! For 10 bucks a month, it's the best thing you can add to your car... hands down. I travel about 3-4 hours a day, and without XM, I would constantly lose signals listening to talk radio and that's really annoying to be listening to a show, then, lose it halfway.

Cons would be the TuneSelect feature that doesn't work, and that you have to turn the unit off if you want to surf FM.
