I suppose I should have read all the fineprint. Here's what I found out about Tivo after wasting my money:
1. Doesn't support HD. Recorded picture looks horrid on HD.
2. Has a terrible time downloading data from its servers on a dsl line. Doesn't matter whether you have a filter. Support rep. told me to keep trying, or have the phone co. add a non-dsl line!
3. Can't add it to a wireless network and use Internet programming features, unless you have a certain system software version. My unit shipped with earlier system software, and because I have dsl it couldn't download the latest software, so the wireless adapter I bought and spent hours with trying to get to work was worthless.
4. When I called to cancel the "service", I was informed that I had agreed legally(!) to a $150+ cancellation fee if done within the first year. I had 30 days, the rep. said, to figure out whether the service was for me. Jeez, the amount of time I wasted in GOOD FAITH EFFORTS to get it to work...
