Too many features to get any one right
Pros
Slick looking design
Cons
Small manufacturer that attempted to bite off too much...
Recommended it?
No
I have seen the Gizmondo at a few conferences and played around with it some. In my opinion, they have tried to do too much with this device and nothing is done very well.
Tiger Telematics is a company that has already had several failed product offerings. Just look at their name, it is a telematics company that has their primary product as a game device and cannot produce a decent telematics offering.
Anyway, back to the Gizmondo: It is too big and doesn't work very well as a phone. If I was a mobile game device, I'm going with Sony or Nintendo. If I have to have a phone/game combination, the N-gage QD (second version in the series) is the way to go.
As to location based gaming, it is a great idea but can be done with standard mobile phones or with add-ons to GameBoys like those from RedSky Mobile. Gizmondo's offering is yet again lacking in this area.
