Pros Watch TV on your own terms; no commercials
Cons Can't record 2 shows at the same time
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you don't have one you really need one. It's a great way to watch TV.
I couldn't write a title with the exact sound the Tivo makes, but it makes a cool sound when you use the DVR feature. I bought my Tivo about 3 years ago and have since sold it on ebay, but when I had it I have to say I really liked it. I bought a lifetime subscription for like $500 which was great too because when I sold it I got my money back so basically used it for free while I had it. I think they are offering lifetime subscriptions again through January...I'm not sure though.
I have to say since having tivo I don't watch tv the same any more. I used to have to be home at a certain time to watch a certain show or game. Now I just set it to record and watch it when nothing else is on. It's the greatest. The only problem was that I couldn't record 2 shows at the same time. I think they have tivo's now that will do that.
The remote was really nice too. I actually miss it. Right now I'm using some DVR from my cable company for Direct TV and it just doesn't compare. I might switch back to TIVO when I move and get a HD TV. I'll just get the HD Tivo.
The fast forward feature is great too....you never have to watch a commercial again if you can time it right to stop right when your show is back.
