Good standalone unit, but not perfect

Cheap, idiot-proof navigation, good maps, nice extras

Yes
For the price, it's a lot cheaper and more flexible than in-car systems. I have used Garmin and Navman units and whilst this unit is good, it could be better. Main gripes..
1. The screen is tough to see in bright sunlight
2. The map zoom cannot be fixed - sometimes I want to see more map instead of a closeup of my road
3. I would like the map to stay fixed with North at the top
4. There should be the facility to select the type of route you want planned - ie fastest, shortest etc.
5. Should be a volume control on the unit
However, the mapping is accurate in the UK and you can download locations of speed cameras from another site - it is useful being warned x yds in advance !
