Yes
I was pleasantly surprised with the 'upconvert' of regular TV (digital cable) to 16:9 - I watch everything on the "full" mode and the pictures look great, not stretched or loose. Slightly disappointed in the DVD quality, just like any other TV. If you're really in to DVD's pay for the HDMI - this one doesn't have it.
