Convergence settings beyond the patience and reach of the average consumer.

I will start by saying that I paid way too much for this set(early adopter) day after Thanksgiving Day 2002.
It is an extremely competent set. Picture quality is beyond reproach, especially with HD or component sources.
Convergence is awful, a real pain to adjust.
Toshiba service in my town is awful too. Upon arrival, the convergence was of course way out of spec. I called for service. The tech tried pass off the user convergence as the only means to adjust. He didn't have the grids Toshiba makes to lay across the screen to properly set the convergence, so instead he asked for tape, scotch tape, to stretch across the screen.
I found the codes to access the service menu, and did the job myself. In latter models, Toshiba has added auto convergence.
