Pros Outstanding picture quality, excellent upgradeability, flexible array of inputs
Cons Cabinet quality, speaker sound, "personality quirks"
Recommended it? Yes

I just took delivery of my Toshiba 40h80 from OneCall.com about two weeks ago (I recommend them highly for good service and competitive prices; also both the TV & box arrived unscathed ? something some other online merchants are having a tough time with). To date, the price I paid is the lowest I... Read full review »

What a headache

Pros Overall impressive picture
Cons Reliability Quality
Recommended it? No

After researching MANY projection TV's, I opted for the Toshiba 40H80. Having worked at Best Buy's video department before, I knew the Toshiba quality reputation and picture quality. The 40H80 was the perfect size for my living room since a larger set would have been too big for the viewing area... Read full review »

Pros cheapest wide screen HDTV , slim
Cons ugly looking back, hard to operate, shuts off by itself
Recommended it? Yes

When i say it's cheap, i should really describe it as not as expensive(like other HDTVs). I read one of the reviewers saying that he/she bought 40h80 set from onecall.com. And i like to say that i also bought my set from the same site. Normally, i don't recommend any store but onecall.com is an... Read full review »

Pros Small Footprint & Cabinet Depth, HDTV Compatibility, TheaterWide 16:9 Screen
Cons Lack Of More Refined User Controls, Slow Scanning Of Channels & Inputs
Recommended it? Yes

I have had this tv now for about a year and i can trully say that it has been a worthy investment and has lived up to the hype of the HDTV market. The design is simple and clean and uncomplicated. The Picture quality is excellent and even better when using a progressive scan dvd and the hd decoder... Read full review »

Pros Right size for most living rooms. Very good picture quality. Multiple Wide Screen modes.
Cons Lack of automatic convergence found in Sony sets. Poor factory settings out of the box.
Recommended it? Yes

There are not many TVs in this size category. This TV fits perfectly in most living rooms, so you don't have to strain your eyes even when watching it from as close as 6 ft. The picture quality is amazing. The backlit remote control is easy to use.

The factory settings of geometry,... Read full review »

Pros Great picture, usable remote, size, adjustable wide screen sizes.
Cons A few weird quirks. see below.
Recommended it? Yes

There really isn't too much to complain about on this TV. I have had this TV for about 8 months. So far, the only problems I have run into are the following :

1. The TV powered off once for no reason. Maybe a power surge or something, who knows.
2. When I first got the TV, a couple... Read full review »

Pros Great HD/Component Video
Cons Convergence settings beyond the patience and reach of the average consumer.
Recommended it? No

I will start by saying that I paid way too much for this set(early adopter) day after Thanksgiving Day 2002.
It is an extremely competent set. Picture quality is beyond reproach, especially with HD or component sources.
Convergence is awful, a real pain to adjust.
Toshiba service in... Read full review »

Pros Great picture. Good sound for regular TV viewing. Quite slim for a Projection TV
Cons Shuts off by itself right out of the box! (new)
Recommended it? No

I bought this TV because Toshiba has never let me down before. However, this set has problems and they are the same with most of the reviews I have read on here and also with other sites. And by the way, this is my first review and may I also say that this is a great way to look for problems and... Read full review »

Excellent entry-level HDTV system

byfastolfe May 18, 2003
2 Helpfuls 3 Helpfuls Was this review helpful? Comment
Pros Excellent picture, two HDTV inputs, price (relatively speaking)
Cons Susceptible to "burn-in" and focus problems, viewing angle could be better
Recommended it? Yes

Don't let the "cons" scare you. This was my first HDTV purchase after some time of searching and testing and it's beautiful. It sits at just the right height for couch viewing, but if you prefer your TV to be a bit higher, I might suggest a stand for it.

Like most projection TV's, though,... Read full review »
