Toshiba 40RV525U 40" LCD TV

 We have only had this TV for about 1 week but it has really impressed me with its picture quality. I wanted at least a 37" TV for our relatively large bedroom but when I found out that this thin bezel design would allow me to fit a 40" TV into our armoire I was sold on it. Toshiba also has a good reputation and low frequency of repair record. Another feature that I really like is the "sound leveler" option that enables you to switch channels and not have to adjust the volum constantly. You also don't get jolted out of your chair by the commercials which are always 100 decibels higher than the program! All TV's should have this feature but many don't. Kudos to Toshiba for this. My only surprise to date is how much heat the TV seems to generate. It seems to get as hot or hotter than my 50" Panasonic plasma TV which I was led to believe run much hotter. It is therefore important to ensure that this TV is not placed in too tight an entertainment center so as to allow the heat to dissipate. Only time will tell how great a deal this TV was but so far so good. I purchased this particular model because of the super narrow bezel (cabinet rim under 1") design and to maximize the screen size in a built in wall unit. It is smaller than most of the 37" units I looked at. I couldn't find another manufacturer who had a 40" unit that was comparable in size design. The picture and sound quality is outstanding. Some may feel the speakers may be smaller than usual due to cabinet size trade-off. I feel they are more than adequate for normal everyday viewing and for those special movie viewing nights or sports event it is not an issue since the unit is hooked to a surround sound system. There are ample interface connections on the back and side for most electronic devices associated with a home theater system. It has a universal remote control that is well designed and easy to use or setup with other manufacturers products. I purchased TV and component Toshiba products in the past and found them to be very reliable. I found nothing to indicate this unit will be any different. I would highly recommend this product, especially to someone with size constraints, because of it's compact design, picture and sound quality, and overall ease of setup.
