The Bottom Line:
With all the rave reviews from consumers, websites, and also the hard-to-please specialty magazine writers. You cant go wrong with this HDTV or its sale price.
This is my first ever writing a review. Usually i just read them and thats it. So excuse any spellings and grammar errors. When i wanted to buy my first HDTV, i did a week or so of net research and visiting the stores to see the models first hand. In the end i decided on the Toshiba 57HX81 Cinema Series, the next step up from the Theater series, but basically the same model with a few tweeks. I have owned enjoyed this HDTV for 2 months and i just had to write a review and praise this tv and help others decide. The picture quality is outstanding. Go to a store that has alot of different manufacturers and models including this one and you will see at the price its one of the best. I also bought Toshiba's top of line and highly rated DVD player, 5700. Movies are great. Must watch movies include Gladiator, Shrek, and Crouching Tiger (i bought the Superbit version, for the best video and sound- high price DVD, but worth it). My other component input is occupied by my XBOX video game system. Phew! the best video game available... connected to this great looking HDTV? Friends are always amazed and complimenting how movie-like the games are, like Halo. One thing you rarely hear about in a review of any kind is the remote. Why not, this your constant companion when watching your tv. So if you hate your remote, its gonna be discouraging to watch tv. I have basically have no complaints about the remote. And since nothing is ever perfect, i'll be picky and say i wish each of the inputs had their own button rather than having to press "input" and then select a on-screen number corresponding to the input you want. And the buttons are even back-lit in my favorite color, a nice cool blue. :) Which we all know is a great feature on a remote when the lights are off at night. By the way, there is an on-off button for the back light to conserve juice. I wish there was just ONE more component input so when i finally do buy the HDTV receiver i'd have a place to plug it in. decisions, decisions. Now! i saved the last feature for last: the stereo sound. I havent bought my surround sound equipment yet. And after using this TV's built in speaker setup. I feel fine putting it off even longer. The sound stage produced is amazing to me. And if you like bass like i do, you wont be dissapointed with this one. Even at high volumes. Test it out with the movie, Black Hawk Down! I am totally happy with this set. Well, until the 73" Mitstubishi model comes down price. No i will never sell this unit i have now, it will only be moved to the bedroom! :) P.S. Attn: wise buyers, buy this or any HDTV from a store or site that will give you a 30-day price guarantee! I bought mine from BrandsMart store for $2600, and keeping an eye out on the price, 2 weeks later I recieved a $300 refund for the price drop. Good Luck Ya'll!
