Walked into store expecting to purchase Sony HDTV but when viewed side-by-side the Toshiba picture quality looked slightly better, that is, there was better illumination out to the corners. The Sony had darker corners, sorta like looking through a tunnel. Still, the picture is not as sharp as the DLP or LCD models. For example, subtitles near the center of the screen look more sharp than toward the edges. This is true even after using TouchFocus and manual convergence.
Also like ability to stretch widescreen divx movies played from computer.
My TV needed service after about a couple of weeks. One of the controller boards on the green (?) gun came loose so the color was flickering.
